FAQ

There is a huge menu of 50 meals (and growing!), of which we make ten available for you to choose from each week. You can see this week’s available meals right here, on the Menu Page. Once you’ve chosen your pack here, and hooked us up with all of your details, you will be taken to the page where you can choose exactly which meals you’d like. We do it this way so that we know that the exact right number of meals are going to the exact right person. Otherwise we’d have to guess, and we just don’t want that kind of pressure on your first time!

If you’re a subscriber and need to cancel your order, we need to know by 1pm Thursday before the following Monday’s delivery (as we do a preliminary produce order, so will have already ordered your delicious ingredients after this time)

Suuuuuper easy – just pierce the lid, and pop it in the microwave for 1.5 – 2 minutes (depending on the wattage of your microwave). You can also transfer to an oven proof plate and re-heat in the oven, or pop in a pan or pot on the stove if you’re kicking it old school.
You can have the best of both worlds and either place an order for a one off or have your weekly meals sorted every week and jump on the subscription bandwagon! Placing a one off order doesn’t mean you can only order once though – any time you need a break from the cooking and need some meals, jump online and place another order.

If you want the peace of mind of having a fridge stocked with healthy, nutritious food at all times your best bet is the subscription.  Your only task after you sign up is to select your meal combo by 1pm each Thursday. Don’t sweat it if you forget to jump on and order, we will allocate your meals for you so you don’t miss out! We don’t have any lock-in’s and you can cancel or suspend your meals at any time prior to our cut off (e.g. If you cancel before 1pm Thursday you won’t receive any more food. If you cancel after this time, you will receive food the following week, but no more after that).

No. We totally get that people’s needs change, so we’re not interested in locking you into a 6 or 12 month contract (much to the bank’s chagrin!). You can cancel your service at any time prior to the end of the ordering week (e.g. If you cancel before midday Thursday, you won’t receive any more food. If you cancel after this time, you will receive food the following week, but no more after that).
As all of your meals are delivered fresh, you’ll want to get them into the fridge ASAP. They will last in there fresh, for 7-10 days (check the dates on each individual meal). If you’re coming to the end of the week and you have a few left over, simply chuck them in the freezer where they’ll be good for a few months.

To re-heat, simply pierce the lid and pop in the microwave for 1.5 – 2 minutes (depending on your microwave wattage). If zapping isn’t your thing, the meals are also quite delicious re-heated in a pan or the over – you’ll need to judge the timing of that for yourself though

Yes you can freeze your auto-renew service when required, simply by logging in, going into your account and hitting “Suspend” on your subscription – but make sure you remember to log in and reactivate it! If this is too much for your busy brain, you can email our awesome Customer Service Gurus at  info@cavemankitchen.com.au and they will take care of everything for you. Make sure you do this PRIOR to 1pm Thursday the week before you want the freeze to take affect. If you freeze it after this time, you will be charged for the following week as the produce orders will have gone in. Get organised muchachos!
We will process your package every week from the day you signed up – so if you sign up on a Monday, your subscription will be processed every week on a Monday.
You can cancel your service at any time prior to the end of the ordering week (e.g. If you cancel before midday Thursday, you won’t receive any more food. If you cancel after this time, you will receive food the following week, but no more after that). To cancel, simply login and head to your Account Page and hit cancel on your subscription. Otherwise you can email us at info@cavemankitchen.com.au
We are happy to offer a refund if something has gone dramatically wrong. Like a zombie apocalypse…and if you’ve survived that then kudos on your training program paying off, and you probably deserve a refund.
We don’t however, offer refunds because you forgot to cancel or freeze your subscription, or simply because you don’t like something you have ordered (refer to question 14). We don’t lock you into contracts so if you’re unhappy with our service you can cancel at any time – however we’d love if you would give us a call first to let us know what the problem is, and see if we can work through it for you.
Don’t sweat it, we recognise that some of us have dodgy memories or are easily distra – oh look something shiny!
If you forget to make your selections, you will automatically receive a one of each meal on the menu that week (or in the case of a 5, 15, 21 or 28 pack, a random selection), which is awesome because a) they’re so damn good and b) who doesn’t like a lucky dip!
All meals are packaged in recyclable, microwave safe, plastic containers/lids. We would have loved to package in some super bio-degradable containers, but we’re still on the hunt for ones that don’t leak within 12 hours. If you’re lacking a recycling bin at home there are a number of other ways to put your containers to good use, for example you could poke some holes through the bottom, push some rope through, and make fancy new shoes. Conversely, you could rinse and send them back in your empty eskie, and we’ll make sure they are directed to a recycling plant.

All meals are delivered in eskies packed with ice blocks, and should be refrigerated as soon as possible. We take all precautions to keep your food fresh, however it is your responsibility to refrigerate before it turns nasty. So like, the same day it’s delivered for example

For our Direct Delivery customers- you will receive your food in a nice, cold sytrofoam esky and you can leave yours out the next week for our delivery drivers to swap out with your fresh one. If you are on a one-off order service you have a couple of options- hold onto the esky until you place another order down the line (you know you will) and leave it out for swapping then. Otherwise you can find your nearest sytrofoam recycling depot here.

We can’t give specific delivery times for  home/office delivery as our driver’s routes change from week to week, but if you’re needing a more specific ETA give us a call on 1300 885 231.

All of our meals are gluten free. Most of our meals are dairy free, however we do have a few meals that contain sour cream, natural yoghurt and goats cheese. These meals are few and far and super easy to avoid by allocating your meals each week. For more specific information you can check out the ingredients list here: www.cavemankitchen.com.au/menu/ or you can get in touch with us at info@cavemankitchen.com.au

Ahhh public holidays – loved those suckers until we needed them to make a crust! Simple solution, your meals will be delivered on the Tuesday instead of the Monday. You’ll still receive the pack size you are signed up for. Any meals left over at the end of the week can be used for a variety of purposes, for example you could eat them on the weekend, or give one to that co-worker that’s been drooling over your meals for the past 2 weeks!
Two words – simple carbohydrates. They’re cheap, they taste good to the masses, and they can bulk out a meal like it’s no-one’s business. Our meals cost more because a) they have more and b) the ‘more’ they have is sourced from local farmers who raise grass fed & cage-free meat & eggs, and grow additive free vegetables and fruit.

There’s no point forking out for your awesome fitness regime (we talk to your coaches, we know you have them), if you’re not going to fuel your bodies in the right way. Trust us, money spent nourishing your body now, will save you on those exy medical bills in 20 years’ time.

Unfortunately we don’t offer a vegetarian or vegan range of meals.
It’s hard to give a hard and fast answer to this one as there are so many different allergies out there – your best bet is to shoot us an email at info@cavemankitchen.com.au and we can see if we can work through your specific requirements. Unfortunately, we can’t change a meal to not include a specific ingredient you don’t/can’t eat.
Suck it up princess! Ok, in all seriousness we understand that people aren’t big fans of every food (although personally, we don’t see it, if it’s whole it’s great!), which is why we have ten meal options each week offering a variety of goodies. Don’t like fish? Pick two of the chicken, and so on. Don’t like any of them? We suggest you try McDonalds.
Meals are delivered fresh on Monday (Brisbane & Gold Coast) or Tuesday (Sunshine Coast) morning, and each will be stamped with an Eat or Freeze By date. Generally they are good for 5 days, however this will depend on individual meals (e.g. salads we would recommend eating in the first couple of days…and probably not freezing). Check the Eat by/Freeze by date on the label of your meal if you’re not sure! All meals are designed to be re-heated in the microwave, and won’t lose much/any by way of flavour if frozen.
The ‘Paleo Diet’ first came into dialogue, with reference to how people should eat today, in the mid-1970s. Since then there have been lots of definitions and re-workings, and God knows debate, about what the Paleo diet is. Is goat’s cheese paleo? Are legumes so beneficial it doesn’t matter that they’re not a vegetable? And would someone make a bloody decision on bacon (as long as it’s in favour of being paleo, because bacon is awesome!). We’re firm believers that Paleo is a great base plate for people to create a diet that works for them, every body (note, not everybody) is different and you should eat foods that work to allow your body to perform at its optimum.

At Caveman Kitchen we go by Greg Glassman’s (Crossfit Founder) definition of fitness, which states Eat meat & vegetables, nuts & seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise, but not body fat.

We try to make all of our meals ‘strict paleo’, however from time to time ingredients like goats cheese, natural yoghurt, or quinoa may pop up. If this isn’t for you, simply don’t select it as one of your meals choices that week.

If you’re new to paleo, check out these sites for more info, and go from there!
